An amendment to the Ontario Tenancies Act that would further restrict landlords from raising rents, while requiring licensing for those who own properties with six or more units, would bring Ontario one step closer to social justice, says New Democratic MPP Cheri DiNovo.
If DiNovo’s bill passes landlords would no longer have the ability to raise rents to market when a tenant moves out.
Already hurt by 8% (GST) on Electricity, Natural Gas, Insurance and professional fees - which they can not pass on, Ontario is moving to time of day electricity billing.
This is currently in second reading. This will make investing in Ontario's multi-family units a silly thing to do.
