Success & Happiness: The Parable of the Two Wolves

By

At the beginning of each new year I like to reflect on what makes life really worthwhile.  Being successful in business isnt it because I know several highly successful unhappy people.  I think personal and spiritual growth are the key to success and thats why I want to share the following story with you.

An old man told his grandson about a fight that was going on inside him.     He said the fight is between two wolves.  One is evil and filled with anger, envy, sorrow, regret, greed, arrogance, self-pity, guilt, resentment, inferiority, lies, false pride, superiority and ego.  The other is good and is filled with joy, peace, love, serenity, humility, kindness, benevolence, empathy, generosity, truth, compassion and faith.

The grandson thought about it for a while then asked, Which wolf wins?

After a long pause, the grandfather replied, The one I choose to feed.

A thousand blessings for this New Year.

Bob - That is a great story. That darned evil wolf is always nipping at us, but I am trying to make 2011 very different. Thanks for the encouraging blog.

Lol, I laugh as we used to be told these types of sayings for everything growing up.  Now I just don't hear this happening as much as it used to.  Good post

Bob,

The first time I heard this was in Church. Liked it a whole lot then. It is so true that what we pay attention to will flurish. A good one for peopel to remember where to but there energy and attention.

No matter how much you hear this phrase, it is a great saying.  I hope we're feeding the right wolf.
