Remember When Active Rain Was A Two Lane Blogging Highway?

Posts a few years back on Active Rain's real estate blogging platform would stay on the front page for a while without being a gold star, blue ribbon creation.

Why? Sheer numbers of local real estate industry related bloggers one reason. Do the math. If there are 40,000 Active Rain bloggers and knowing not are all Little Red Hen blog a days, your post flare stayed overhead longer. Casting a light for more than a blip, speck of time front line exposure.

But as we approach 200,000 Active Rain bloggers and more and more folks learn the power of blogging daily, your spotlight when you hit submit on a new post is very short lived. Heck, I have gone back to a blog post just out of the oven to add a link or image and within seconds, you are four pages deep. Loosing altitude like a four engine bomber out of gas or leaving the formation from flak damage. Had a heck of a time to find it on the roster and wondered for a minute, did it go through and get posted after all doubt creeps in.

Everyone has their hand up, is beating the blog drum on the six lane Active Rain highway these days.

Still wished we had a daily poll up in the right hand corner though for a quick let's see what today's one liner answer topic is. Told a good idea and programmers will be getting back to develop that suggestion but never happened.

That one line special of the day zinger to stay around aday before quickly being squeaky wheeled in to the bowels of the Active Rain blogging basement. To be tucked away, shrink wrapped and catalogued, numbered. To know what the majority of AR bloggers feel on a myriad of subjects, not just a handful is powerful. It would guide our purchasing, time allotment, the way we run our own local real estate operation.

Andy, the volume of posts many days can be overwhelming! I know that I miss some spectacular posts on a regular basis, and I don't know how to solve the problem!

Hi Andy,

Some times I scan the right side of blog posts and notice a few I want to open, when I get back to the blog page after reading and commenting, they are gone!  Already moved to page 2.  I have spent more time going through the multiple pages lately, making sure I'm seeing them all.  Another reason I'm not crazy about blogging more then one post at a time.  I'm afraid it will get lost.  Cindy

Andy if you focus on Googles spotlight you will never have to worry about the AR board....at least if the purpose is getting business:)

Andy, it is something to see how quickly the board changes. The guys on Wall St would like that much activity. It has changed a lot in my tenure here and it keeps growing such that we will probably see 200,000 members by March

All good, valid points. The audience for our work is not always in these halls, highways but out in the wild blue yonder. Blogging for the public not just the AR fraternity, sorority. This is the greasy spoon special of the day concept I thought would be a benefit so you would have literally the pulse of AR on a slew of topics. Not just a great post once in a while that gets attention of a few. Total what do you think concept on simple one line questions with one or two line responses from many of us, not few of us.

Great points!   it is hard to keep up on the good blogs...i find myself subscribing to more and more bloggers sites just so that I can keep up withthem...and not lose their posts...but even that can be overwhelming!
