Big Canoe in Winter (Photos)

Is it Minnesota? Are they long lost  pictures of the Russian front? No it is Big Canoe Georgia. We have had our second snow storm in as many weeks. For some of you it may be a, so what?  Let me tell you the mentality here.

"Oh look it is snowing ! We have not had snow in so long. Wow it is really pretty. Quick run and get the camera before it all melts."

This is NOT the case now or the case of the first time in 100 years Christmas Day snow event. It is very pretty. There is a lot of stuff I can do as long as the power stays on. Hope to be mobile tomorrow or Thursday at the latest. (Shades of growing up in New York.)

snow in the Mountains

As you can see the snow is really pretty. This is day 2

snow in the mountains

The Mountain in the distance is Sanderlin Mountain which is about 3200 feet up I am 2500 feet up.

front porch

Even my covered front porch was not immune to the snow ! We created a home for our feral cat on this porch so she could be out of the wet stuff.

Big Canoe is different than many communities. We have 4 small  snow plows, ( The city of Atlanta has 16, granted they are larger, by comparison) All our first responder vehicles are equipped with chains and are 4 wheel drive. so even though, as you can see in these pictures, we are pretty much in the mountains, we are not without resources. The utilities are under ground as well which is a big help in this kind of weather. If you are looking to live in the mountains consider Big Canoe. It is the unique premier mountain community East of the Mississippi.

Nice Photos!  We got the snow & the ice, too, here in Pinehurst.  We are iced in today...not going anywhere!  Stay safe & warm.  Hopefully this stuff will start melting tomorrow!

That last photo is great. Amazing how the snow managed to dust just about everything so delicately.

Hi Charlie:

I'm guessing that Big Canoe has had enough of snow for one season!
