For Those Who Did A Written Business Plan...and Those Who Will.

For those who did you written business plan … what did you learn from your work?

I hope you began to get an idea of the activities you need to complete to produce the results you desire in your real estate career?

Did you establish or reestablish goals you can really get excited about working towards and achieving in 2011? Hopefully you did.

If you don't have goals you are excited about in your real estate career you may find yourself less than enthusiastic in your day-to-day activities. This will cause you to produce less than ideal results, too.

It’s important that you feel it’s possible to accomplish your goals ...If you don't believe you can achieve your goals when they are established …the battle is lost before it’s begun.

You must always establish a goal with a feeling of certainty of being able to achieve it …when you have clarity, commitment, and determination, you will produce amazing results very quickly.

Now let's take a look at something a little different …Answer the following questions, ideally on paper:

What activities am I doing in my career which are already working very successfully for me?  (List all of these and elaborate on each one so that they are very clear to you.)

And now the next question:

Of these activities you've just listed, which ones can you still improve on and how specifically can you improve on them?

I am sure you already understand this is a never ending story … even the most successful agents in the business constantly work on improving what they are already do very well. When you are constantly improving your skill level …you continually close on a higher percentage of prospects you meet ….and when you close a higher percentage of transactions …well, let’s just say life is easier!

Last Question:

Who is the one agent in your company you most admire and why?

Ask this agent out for lunch (your treat) and ask them what they did when they were in your position in real estate …(when they were at your level) …and what were the activities they did to get to the next level …true professionals are more than happy to “share” what made them successful.

I have 2 agents I am going to take out to lunch. One is very successful in farming a neighborhood and she has a whole TEAM around her of great agents. Another has been farming a building or two and has a very different approach. What I love about my office is "idea central" where we sit on sofas and comfy chairs in an open "pit" and discuss the market, ideas, social media etc. It is also where we host our weekly meetings. I think that I get a lot out of those group discussions but a one-on-one lunch is a great idea. I am still tweaking my 2011 plan.

Hi Eddie: I think it is always very healthy to do some personal soul searching ... we have to be objective to be corrective! Best, Gay
