How's the market? Let's compare two homes in Newton

By
Real Estate Agent with Keller Williams Realty

The question of the day: "How's the market?" I have been asked that question at least once a day over the past month. The best answer about the overall market is looking at the facts and figures. But when choosing a home, facts and figures aren't enough. The essence of home is personal.

Let's look at two active listings in Newton. As you take them in, notice your reactions to the homes. Both of these beautiful single families are located on the south side of Newton, Massachusetts. At the time of this writing, they were currently each listed just over $1,000,000.

Both of these homes have many similarities, including the excellent south side locations; proximity to Newton Schools; nice placement on good sized lots; excellent flow from the inside out. Yet each has a unique style and feeling. For example, notice the differences in the fireplaces. The one in the contemporary home has a brick surround, the other a classic wooden mantel. The windows of the colonial are divided into smaller panes, those in the other offer an unbroken view.

What is the essence of home for you? What is the single most important quality/feature that you desire in your home?
