Advertisers It does not work !!! ( mini rant)

By
Real Estate Agent with AllMountainRealty.com

As I am snowed in I am getting caught up on a lot of things and exploring new things. But there is one thing that really frosts me. Ever log into a site that says free.... or into a site that has something you want? The first question I have is, HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?

It is obvious that I am interested in the product because I clicked through. But I get really peeved when I go through 10 screens and am asked for credit card info and still do not have a price. I am equally peeved when I listen to some bozo tell me his or hers secrets will only be available for a short time. This info is free. I listen to 10 minutes of drivel and in the end find out for $49.00 I can have the package.

Guess what . This stuff does not work. If I was going to buy now I am not. I cannot imagine anybody that would. So the point here is advertisers give us the cost up front . Let us make our own decision to proceed. By doing it the way you do what you guarantee is I will block you in my email. So even if you have something some time in the future I want to buy it will not happen because of your deceptive practices.

Definitely not difficult to $50 yourself to death in this biz. Good reminder to red light/green light on biz spending.

Charlie,

This is one of my pet peeves too. I just say next because I hate being controlled.

Charlie - the question I always ask myself is - is there anyone who buys into these practices?  Just who would that be?

I'm with you on this one!!  Apparantly, these tactics are working on some people or why would they continue to use them?  I refuse to let it work on me!

If they shared the price upfront few folks would click through. The more time investment, the more likely people are to purchase.

Charlie

Your post is right on target, that stuff does not only not work it turns the person off and they will never return to the site.

Good luck and success.

Charlie I hope you are able to get out of that darned house today:-).  But I do know what you mean.  I usually won't click more than a few times to get to price.  I figure if it's buried that deep then I don't want to know.

Deceptive in my opinion and Charlie, I couldn't agree more with you.  It just doesn't work and neither do hard sells.  When will those who employ these marketing techniques finally get it.  I was contacted by someone trying to sell me a keyword phrase and guaranteed I would be on the first page of Google - but when I politely listened to what he had to say and then told him to email more information and I would be happy to look at it, he refused; then just for grins, I asked him more questions about what he was offering and he refused to provide any info outside of his script.  So obvious and then he turned a bit nasty when he began his hard sell.  I had so much fun with this guy!  Maybe he'll wise up and find another job and get out of the losing one he's in.

Hey Donna - I agree with you and sometimes those guys are fun to mess with!  The ones that get me are the ones who say "you don't want my product???  you mean you don't need the extra business??"
