This afternoon I'm doing research for a couple of real estate related articles... and it is frustrating!
You know how it is - you type in some keywords and Google gives you sites that may or may not be related to what you're looking for. Or maybe they are, but it's buried so far in the site that it would take an hour to find it.
Today I'm being led to blogs and articles on "Internet magazines," as well as to those dreaded link farms.
What I'm finding is a whole lot of really bad writing. Some of the sentences are so run on that they forget where they were headed long before they get there. Some of them are so full of "words to impress" that they make little sense. Some are full of words that don't belong at all (the product of article spinners.) Some of it I know to be untrue. Some are just words put together with no apparent purpose - they don't know what they're talking about, but they're filling space and adding "content."
In other words, my search for some new information has been causing me to wade through a whole lot of garbage.
But then...
I haven't been looking at the sources, but instead have been reading the top portion of the search results. Thus, I didn't realize ahead of time that one of those links was taking me to Active Rain.
And I startled myself with my own reaction. 
As soon as I saw the Active Rain header begin to appear on my screen (It's slow... I'm on Wild Blue satellite) I felt instant relief!
Thank goodness!
My expectation level went through the roof. Finally, I had found something worthwhile! I knew that what I found might not be what I was looking for - but whatever it was, it would be well-written and would make sense.
I think that says a lot for the writers on Active Rain!
