Looking Out My Back Door - Bath, Maine

Looking out my back door in Bath, Maine on this morning after the blizzard (technically, it was reported that only Augusta and Waterville had true blizzard conditions), this is my view of the world after a 15" snowfall

Gate with Snow Piles

Every day I walk out that gate and adventures are waiting - adventures with my family, co-workers, neighbors, people I haven't met yet - - who knows what's going to happen and what fun (or not fun) I'm going to have?  It's amazing what you find when you just open your gate!

Nice photo, though it did make me want to go turn up my heat.  We've managed to dodge the bullet twice in DC this winter.  But last year we had more than our share of the white stuff so I'm not complaining.

Nice picture Terry,

We flew from San Diego yesterday to Seattle.

In the morning we walked around in 68 degrees.

When we landed, it was rainy and 46 degrees.

Sorry about the blizzard

Phil

Terry - nice shot! I know you are accustomed to snow, being in Maine...but what are "true blizzard" conditions?

Hi Cindy, thanks for checking out the view from my back door!  I have relatives in Great Falls, VA and we sure did hear about the snow last year from them - - we are much better equipped to deal with it when it falls in feet rather than inches.

Phil - - don't be sorry about the blizzard - - you have to love snow to live in Maine.  Most everything shuts down so you don't miss anything work-wise, Bath's public works dept. is aces at snow removal, so we all get a day off to play (or catch up on work).  P.S.  I lived in San Diego for 15 years and I like it here better.

Carol - I heard on the weather report yesterday - - I think you need 3 hours of sustained winds of at least 35 mph (creating visibility of less than a quarter mile) to qualify as a blizzard.  It really has to do with the wind, not the snowfall amount.

Nice picture Terry!  And you're right...the whole world awaits on the other side of that gate.  Go get 'em!

Barb -I love gates and doorways.  Visually, I'm drawn to them; I think that says something about being open to new things (or maybe I'm just nosey and want to see inside everyone's home and backyard!)

Terry -Greetings from the tropics of New Jersey.... We got the blizzard the day after Christmas and you go this one... I think that kind of evens us out no? lol This last storm only dropped about a foot by us... As long as the power doesn't go out I always say... Enjoy and wishing you a Very Happy New Year!

Bob, good to hear from you!  I've been working with someone who lives in Summit, NJ and they've been keeping me posted on the snowfalls down there - - just amazing!  They tell me the streets are getting VERY narrow.  Happy New Year to you and Lisa, too!
