Is there an Inner Circle of Active Rain....oh, well I suppose there is. But it's not exclusive in any way. There is no "Freshmen Rush," no interview process, no hazing (ok...some hazing).

But anyone and everyone are welcome! And easy to get in! You need to be noticed by more and more people and you need to impress upon them that you are interesting. So...if you aren't interesting, well, this might not be the right place for you :).

I'll let you in on a little secret......Active Rain is a very fun place to hang out. We learn a lot and have a good time doing it.

So back to the point...how does a Newbie break in?

The first thing you need to do is write good blog posts. All the publicity in the world is not going to create interest if you don't write anything people want to read. It can be directed to the profession, or a local interest piece, great photography, or a personal story....but make it interesting.

Then get some readers...my suggestion is read post by AR members that appeal to you! That have similar views and who's personality seem to match yours. Subscribe to their blogs and comment. Comment consistently and make fun comments too. Be consistent with these bloggers and interact with them....they will want to interact back.

It's a relationship!!!

It's not a clique.....it's an open forum of fun people. They want to help and encourage and interact. Don't rely on the blog roll to get you noticed. Join some groups, read some blogs, comment and you will be in the "Circle" in no time.

Very good. I know it seems like it's hard, but if you keep posting, someone will begin to read you.

One other thing that I have found useful is using ActiveRain to make contact with other active agents in my own area.  It has opened a world of networking for me that isn't just useful for AR...but also in day to day activities.  Afterall, cooperation and team work between agents is a strong support for success.

Once upon a time long ago and far away there were indeed Active Rain cliques.  I'm very happy to hear that has changed for the better!

As a newbie - it is really encouraging to hear that the inner circle is not so elusive.  We all had to start somewhere right?  Thanks for the advice - I will certainly heed it over the upcoming weeks.
