Thanks for the random act...and yes, I paid it forward.

Earlier, while stopping for my morning coffee, I was the beneficiary of a random act of kindness...and it felt really good.  It was simple and effective.  When I pulled up to the window to pay, the barista told me that the lady in front of me already paid for my drink! What?!? "It's free?" I asked.  "Yes, sir.  Taken care of." was the reply.

I didn't know this lady from Eve.  Her SUV was non-descript.  I don't even know if I'd recognize it just 30 minutes later.  But that little kind gesture made my day.  And it's only 9:00!  While I'm not a particularly religious guy, I am a strong believer in Karma and "The Golden Rule".  I think it's important to spread good energy if you want good things to happen to you.  This definitely fits that bill.

So, of course, I picked up the tab for the car behind me.  (The salesman in me couldn't resist leaving a business card, though ;) ).  Before I had even left the parking lot I got a call on my cell.  It was the lady in the car behind me.  "You didn't have to do that, but thank you!" she said.  "I know.  Just wanted to return the favor." I replied.  I could hear the genuine appreciation in her voice and it made me feel even better.  And that was it.  I wished her a beautiful day and we hung up.  There was a pretty long line behind me...hopefully this went on for a while.

I've heard of people doing this before, but this was the first time it had happened to me.  I think I'll try to make it habit.

Do something nice for a stranger today.  You'll be happy you did!!
