What do you do when your Bluetooth won’t disconnect?

What do you do when your Bluetooth won’t disconnect?

I’m pretty sure that I’m not the only person on the face of the planet who has been talking with a hands free device and suddenly the happy blue flashing goes solid!  I couldn’t turn it off and the phone would not route calls to the hand set!  So when you are traveling down the freeway at 65 MPH … the only alternative that came to mind …. toss the hands-free device out the window!  AND in nano seconds … the phone worked! The Nines Team in Lodi

Now I know that I’m now at great risk talking without a hands-free device.  So I knew at the earliest opportunity I would get another one.  That opportunity was this morning at the AT&T store … just me and about 30 other people who happened to be there when they opened!

At the end of the day (not quite literally – but if I was going to be there any longer I was going to ask for the employee benefits package) I got a new hand-free device something called a “Blue Ant!”

I’m told (by AT&T employees of course,) that it is the best little device on the market and with tax and everything it came to +/- $140.00.  So far, so good!  The sales clerk even “paired” it for me (no wine involved) and I’m “good to go!”

However, I do now have another concern.  My very Smart Phone and my new Blue Ant are becoming unduly friendly.  They have entered into a relationship … talking to each other and entirely without me!  I presume that at some point they’ll let me back into this new ménage a trois … but I suppose they’ll be making all the rules!

Ah … the wonders of technology!

I have never had that problem... and it would be a big problem for me, since my car is bluetooth!! Yikes!

Jack- I have a different tale.  When I was using one of my first bluetooth headsets, I was in the car, driving.  I turned my head to the right and the earpiece flew into the back seat!  It was still close enough to be connected but I couldn't hear anything.  All I could do was disconnect the call from my phone and wait until I pulled over to retrieve the headset.

HAHA _ or you use the little headset that came with your phone and plug it in.  Yes that creates wires but the battery never dies.

Me, the blue light blinking girl hasn't used a bue tooth in a while.  Phone rings... blue tooth answers, and blue tooth is somewhere but it's NOT in my ear... more likely in my purse, in the trunk.

I'm pretty sure at this point it's safer to just talk on the darn phone.

a blue ant.... costco sells blue teeth for $19.99 you can buy a lot of blue teeth's for the cost of one blue ant.

Jack - ha ha. HAven't heard about that little device. I haven't had that problem with my bluetooth. But the cat likes to play with it if I leave it lying around. And I often forget to turn it off when I take it off at home. Kinda hard to talk on the phone when the BT is still on but I can find it.

Jack you are too  funny.  I don't know anything about this blue ant thingy.  And I sure don't want them carrying on a two way conversationg without me - on my bank account too boot!  I wonder how the blue and and blue tooth will work once in the car - would they all sync up?

Kathy - I sure understand ... in this case the caller was someone I've been trying to get a hold of for almost a month ... and a key player in a deal on the table ....  the ear piece was just a "cost of doing business..."

Susan ... Wires ... you trying to strangle me?  When seeking the bluetooth while driving ... you're right ... it safer to just talk ... if the bluetooth will let you!

Jeff - When I've been driving and have the ear piece on when I come into the office - there are times I forget to turn it off .... then it's .... ring .... "Hello, can you hear me?"

Anna - OMG - I never thought about my SMART phone being part of a financial hijacking plan.  OK, I'm back to two cans and a string!  I'm told that the Blue Ant can "multi-task with other devices." ... but what do I know ... I haven't read the instruction manual!

Jack, Blue Ant, huh?  And here I thought your graphic was going to illustrate a little bug in your system!

Pat!  You're quick!  If you ask the system, it's say the only bug is me!  What's that saying ... "user error?"

I used to have an E320, and while I miss it, technology has evolved... you should check it out.

Alan ... you are right ... I just hesitate to leave what's been comfortable and reliable ... but the draw of technology is a big one.  Like you, I spend a lot of time in the car ... and if I'm looking for the best mobile experience ... it will have to be with another vehicle!

Jack - I've been checkin' out the Blue Ant (not the earbud, but the visor mounted), and it looks pretty cool... if you don't want to get rid of the Benz, this might be a good alternative.

I love it Jack.  I haven't heard of the Blue Ant yet but I'll be on the look out for it.  I have a jawbone that keeps trying to leave me but I keep finding that little sucker :)  They sure do have minds of their own :)

Patrick ... maybe ... but right now it's not connecting!  Most likely it's user error!
