Did you know that something as simple as an apple could have so many choices? Fuji, Braeburn, Red Delicious, Golden Delicious, Gala - the list goes on.
I have to admit that I was always a red delicious girl - to the core (no pun intended). When I wanted an apple it had to be Red Delicious - there's no other kind ... right? So I'd make a beeline to the beautiful, nicely shaped, shiny red apples.
Until one day - I went to a store that didn't have them - WHAT?! no red delicious - who were they kidding? I reluctantly looked over the other apples - the names were so foreign to me. I finally selected a Braeburn and took it home - scowling from the time I picked it up until I took that first bite.... Huh? This apple is ... really good. I had that look that kids get when forced to try something that is "disgusting" - and they actually LIKED it! How embarrassing!
Of course after that I had to branch out - Fuji is my second favorite. Who would have thought?! I barely even give the red delicious a second glance now!
Where are your "Red Delicious Apples" in life? A certain marketing tactic that you just can't give up? A specific client profile that is your favorite? Old technology that "works just fine" because there is no way the new stuff can be any better?
Are you stuck using email marketing and mail outs because there's no way social marketing could be any better? Do you only deal with first time home buyers because there's just no money in move up buyers? Are you still using a phone that only does talk and text because who on earth would want to be bothered with email on their phone?!?
Whatever it may be - what could you be missing out on by making that beeline to the "obvious best choice"? You may try something new and find out you still like your old way - but at least you will know you tried!
By the way, I still don't care for the green apples ... a little too sour for my liking...
