Facebook - Where'd My Lists Go?

Education & Training with Tech Training for You!

When your list of Friends and "Liked" pages in Facebook gets long it is sometimes hard to keep up with certain people. The newsfeed updates so frequently that you might totally miss out certain status updates. My first post on ActiveRain was called "Facebook - Don't Miss Your Most Important People" and it tells you how and why you'd want to create lists in Facebook.

Facebook recently just changed the interface and I had to dig around to find out where FB moved the option to pick the list that you want to display. They moved it from the left sidebar up to the top right pull-down list. So, in case you were wondering where to go too, now you know. And if you have no idea what lists are (a great tool both in FB and Twitter), go back to my previous article and check it out.

You can see in my lists above, I have one called "People" which is the feed minus all the business pages. I have lists for my clients, and I have lists for my family. I really find extremely helpful to click through the lists once in a while to make sure I didn't miss something that flew through the newsfeed very quickly.

Normally I can just roll with the punches when Facebook makes changes, but so far I'm not liking this one.  I'm going to have to reread your post to see how to use this my advantage.  I've long preferred the Most Recent view of my newsfeed and click on it routinely so as not to miss anything.  Usually if I clicked it in the morning my brower would remember that throughout the day and my newsfeed would default to the Most Recent feed until the next day.  Except that doesn't work on the mobile site.  I always just used the full site, but now when I click the Most Recent link my phone jumps to the touch.facebook.com, which won't show the most recent posts.  It's about made me crazy the last few days.  (Rant over!)

Unless I figure out how to work around this soon it just means I'll spend even less time on Facebook, especially on my phone!  Until I pick up a Xoom, that is!  :-)

Great post, as always, Craig!

Craig- I've been on FB for a while now and still not sure how to use it for business purposes.  I created a business fan page which is separate from my personal FB page. So, now I think I'll take your suggestion and make some lists.
