Are there any cheap homes available on Lake Oconee? buyers ask me occasionally?
My recent post about the 9 homes that sold below $250,000 in 2010 reminded me to let you know that there are still just a few good deals left. How rare are they? Well my survey of the 207 Lake Oconee private lakefront homes currently on the market shopws that just 4 homes are priced below $250,000 - talk about a needle in a haystack!
This 1450sf 3BR/2BA cottage in Timberlake Cove at the southeast side of the lake is offered at just $150,000! Its at the back of a cove with wharf dock - so views and water depth are limited - but what a deal it is! The Long Island peninsula is located near the dam, with beautiful clear waters. So what can you expect when shopping for a cheap home on Lake Oconee - be prepared to make choices about what matters to your family. If you want good views and boatable water - be prepared to compromise a lot on age, size, and condition of the home. If you can compromise on view and water depth, you'll get more home for your money. Head to the quiet north end of Lake Oconee, and your dollars will go further.
