Paying It Forward A Mile At A Time! Sponsoring a Runner for The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society Fundraiser

We're not runners! Don't hold your breath waiting to see us passing up mile marker after mile marker. Bill enjoyed playing goalie because all running was restricted to about 30 yards MAX! :)

But we don't mind supporting someone who's running for a great cause! If you read us, you know we've ALWAYS had some sort of furball for a pet, and we always strive to give them fantastic care. But if you've got pets, it's just a matter of time until you have to visit the vet's office, and if you're like us, you get to know the vets and their staff pretty well.

One of the vet tech's husband was diagnosed with Hodgkin's Lymphoma in 2008. Fortunately he's currently in remission, but obviously this is a very personal cause for Mandy. So when Mandy announced she's running a half marathon (13.1 MILES....WOW) this May as part of the Flying Pig Marathon to raise money for the fight against Lymphoma and Leukemia via Team in Training, you know we're in! (The fund raising part, NOT the running!!)

Jogger So we donated to her cause at the Silver level. Mandy's goal is at least $2500, and we'll be using the Johnson & Johnson 2 for 1 company match to help multiply our contribution and help her achieve her goal. Proceeds benefit The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, a BBB Accredited Charity.

Dawn, HATE running! My knees have taken abuse from soccer, torn PCL right leg, had to get my left knee scoped... all from playing soccer goalie "for fun!". Bill

My sister did a bike ride for Team in Training a couple of years ago! And last year she rode in the Pan-Mass Challenge, which also supports cancer research. Good luck to Mandy on her run & also to her husband in his fight against cancer.

Tish, We try to do what we can, where we can. :) The same vet's office made a contribution to Liz's fund raising walk for the National Brain Tumor Foundation a couple of years ago. She went to DC to walk with her brother, who's now three years clear of his brain tumor removal.

Ginny, My hat's off to J&J for their match program. I think they'll cover up to $10,000 in a year per employee. There's of course certain things they won't match (religious, political, etc.), but there's more than enough opportunity to do some greater good. We know ovarian is one of the nastier cancers and appreciate you're working on that one! Bill

The Disney Marathon held last weekend benefitted this cause. I think I heard they raised $4 million. There were 17,000 marathoners, even more half marathoners and lots of 5K runners. My daugther ran her first marathon there last weekend. Thank you for bringing attention to the upcoming fundraising event.
