Missed Exits Are Opportunities

Real Estate Broker/Owner with Hello Realty NM Broker License 16161

One of the magical things about our cars is the rear view mirror. Unlike humans, it is always looking backwards even when we are looking ahead. At the same time, the mirror is a safety device when we want to move around on the road in the present. This image happened shortly after I missed the exit to the Santo Domingo Pueblo off the southbound lane on I-25. Fortunately, the next exit was less than 10 miles away. On the road to or from Santa Fe to Albuquerque, highway exits can be few and far between. The good news is the the landscape keeps me company along the way. A missed exit is always an opportunity in waiting. This time this happened.

Beautfiul country.

I recently heard it said, when you mess up, don't say, "oops!" Instead, say, "Interesting...."

Yesterday is gone. But remember, things in the past history and may be closer than they appear if you do gaze in to that mirror mirror on the wall.

Pam - New Mexico is often called the Land of Enchantment thanks to the gift of our landscape.

Navona - At least we have them on our cars!

Andrew - The thing about mirrors is if you don't look you often miss what is there. Thank you.

Loreena - Thank you for your kind words.

Silvia - You are so right, especially if you apply it to real estate. The listing I may miss every now and then is always an opportunity for something else. The sky is blue here today making it a great weekend to be outdoors.

Emily, We just don't know what God has in mind when we miss our exit; do we?  I am reminded of that saying when God closes a door he opens a window.

It's beautiful coming and going.  I have found that sometimes the best view is literally the one out the back window.

Hi Emily -- Being from the midwest, I am in awe when I see the southwest, as the topography is so vastly different.  So true, that life is full of twists and turns and with an open mind, good things can come out of change.  I sometimes find myself looking in the rear view mirror too much, wondering how I must stay on the road sometimes! :)

Marchel, you are so right about when one door closes, another opens! The same applies to all those exit doors...

Melanie, I see you have been here. Another awesome view is heading north on I-25 and just after reaching the top of La Bahada Hill to look ahead and see the site cradled by the Sangre Cristo Mountains. Let me know when you're coming again!

Chris, You have much more traffic in Cleveland, so please keep those eyes and the road. Save your wandering for a visit to Santa Fe and experience our landscape first hand.

Emily when I think of EXIT,my Real Estate Company comes to mind. It does suck when you miss an EXIT. Sometimes you don't know how far you might have to go just to back by on track. I guess this is a great reason why we always have to be alert. Thanks for the remainder. Great post.
