Some Members of the Military are still Eligible for the Home Buyer Tax Credit
The Home Buyers Tax Credit that expired on April 30, 2010 is still available for some members of the military, foreign services and intelligence community. Due to the unique travel requirements of these lines of work, Congress has extended the deadline. For those that qualify a purchase contract must be signed by April 30, 2011 and the sale must close by June 30, 2011.
The extension applies to home buyers that meet the following criteria:
1. Buyer must be a member of the uniformed services of the U.S. military, a member of the Foreign Service of the U.S., or an employee of the intelligence community.
2. Buyer must have been on an official extended duty outside the U.S for at least 90 days during the period beginning after December 31, 2008 and ending before May 1, 2010.
If you or someone you know fits the above criteria and are interested in taking advantage of the $8,000 tax credit for buying a first home or the $6,500 tax credit for being a repeat home buyer, please let me know. I can be reached at 402-943-9494 or through my website www.TrummTeam.com.
