Should I buy a home in Fayetteville NC or should I rent??

I hear this question all the time.... I am working with first time home buyers right now that are weighing the options between the two.

Reasons to buy:
1. The interest that you pay on your mortgage is tax deductible, and we can all use a break on our taxes!
2. The home is yours to improve on how you see fit
3. The pride that comes with owning your own home is not measurable
4. It is one of the most important investments that you will probably make
5. Who you have living with you is up to you, pets included, as long as it does not break the neighborhood covenants

Reasons to rent:
1. If you are not going to be staying long enough to make it worth while then you should rent

The list for buying a home could go on really forever but I think those are the top five reasons to buy a home.  As you see there really is not a lot of benefits to renting.  But here in Fayetteville NC there are a lot of people that come and go rather quickly and it is just not in their best interest to buy.

I think you should probably hop over to my web site www.FayettevilleNcHomeFinder.com and start looking for the home that you are going to want to buy!!

Melissa, That short time frame until moving would be the primary reason for renting over buying.

Melissa ~  Very good points -- everyone wants their part of the American Dream which is to own their own home.  Makes sense to me . . .

Good points Melissa and good question, I get that one all the time too.  Most renters I have had want a house so that they don't hear their neighbors and can do what they want to make the home their own.
