Personally, I love that entrance. However, as a home inspector, those tall plants create microclimates that can cause moisture damage, and from a safety standpoint, they are too large for that small space because they provide a good hiding space for a bad person.
Hi Russel, You are absolutely right about the moisture, especially in Hawaii. The homeowners association is in charge of keeping it trimmed away from the walls.
