INCREASING PROPERTY TAXES-CHARLOTTE, NC
It's that time again!
Mecklenburg County, the home of Charlotte, is due for a revaluation of property taxes. This comes at a time when residents are stressed enough already with the current real estate market. However, North Carolina requires that property values be set atleast every 8 years. Currently, Charlotte residents are paying property taxes based on 2003 PROPERTY VALUES. I'm sure it is hard for residents to read the news headlines stating how bad the real estate market is and then to have their home values actually INCREASED, but it is very true that the values of property in Charlotte, for the most part, have increased since 2003. Mecklenburg County officials are using sales data from 2009 and 2010 to determine the property taxes.
