It's going to be a fun week in Woodland Park.
The new Wal-Mart Supercenter is scheduled to open September 19, 2007. The ribbon cutting is scheduled for 7:30 in the morning.
The Rocky Mountain Oktoberfest is scheduled for this weekend. Sponsored by the Woodland Park Chamber of Commerce it's the area largest and most festive event of the year. It's held at Kavanagh Field on West Street in downtown Woodland Park on Saturday, September 22 from 11 a.m. - 8 p.m. and Sunday, September 23 from noon-5 p.m. Ceremonial tapping of the keg will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday. Entertainment on Saturday includes The Rhinelanders, Czech and Slovak Dancers, Vyzzion, Lost Dog Entertainment, and evening Bonfire; Sunday entertainment includes The Austrian Connection and Lost Dog Entertainment; Game area for the children including a climbing wall, big slide, bounce house and toddler zone, plus "Mom the Clown" will be doing face painting; Over 35 Vendors including crafts and various other business entities; authentic German bratwurst, sauerkraut, German potato salad, hamburgers and hot dogs for the kids, ice cream, kettle corn and roasted nuts, donuts from the Donut Mill, funnel cakes and curly fries.
It can also lead to bigger and better things. I met my wife Connie at the Oktoberfest 5 years ago. So to all of you bachelors good things can happen at the Rocky Mountain Oktoberfest (it also doesn't hurt to have a couple of good German beers).
