A New Website and Blogsite - Can You Help?

By
Services for Real Estate Pros with Second Self Virtual Assistance

About a week ago, my youngest sister and I were talking about one of our favorite subjects - food.  Dana and I have bounced ideas around before about starting a website and blog but have only now actually started putting words into action.

Dana has a background in cooking and management.  With my experience as a Real Estate Virtual Assistant, I know about site design and promotion.  Ask me to create and market a real estate website and I'm all over it.

Here's my challenge:  What should I put on a the site?  Here's what I have so far:

  • Health Calculators
  • Recipes
  • Cookbooks
  • Library
  • Free e-Book

If you were visiting a food, nutrition and family site, what would you be looking for?  What would make you return to the site?

In case you want to visit the site, here's the URL - www.Two-Sisters-Talking.com

I'd really like your opinion.  Thanks!

Photos would be great, as would substitutions and conversions.

I'm going to visit. I currently follow the proud italian cook blog. I  LOVE the photos of the food on that one.

Pamela, great idea - certainly wish you and your sister the best.  I would suggest a calorie counter for each recipe if you will.  Other things people look at it seems is sodium.

Pamela,

She should host some seminars and advertise those dates.

Pamela, how about a section that explains the health benefits of the different vegetables that are commonly grown in our part of the world. This might encourage people to grow their own veggies.

Hi Margo - I've been looking for a Wordpress plugin for the site that would allow you to make conversions.  Can't find it yet - but I'll find something.  Thanks for the suggestions.

Hi Jane - You're right.  Photos are something that will be added.  Since we are currently adding just our own recipes - ones we've created - we don't have photos of each dish.  I think I'll add some to each recipe to at least add color and interest.  Good suggestion.

Hi Tim and Pam - I have several health calculators on the site now.  We have created the recipes we list on the site.  In order for us to be able to list the nutrition values, we'd have to get the recipes sent to a professional.  Maybe we should add a Low Sodium category to our list of recipes.  Thanks for the suggestions.

Hi Erika - That's a great idea.  Just about everything I cook is quick and easy.  Dana is writing recipes for things we usually all have in our pantry.

Hi Brian - Love it!  My nephew is a sports doctor.  He's going to be contributing to the site.  Perhaps we could get him to host a seminar.  If you know anyone who would like to benefit from some online exposure, I sure know how to promote them!

Hi Malcolm - Good idea.  Spring planting is just around the corner.  Michelle Obama comes to mind when you talking about growing your own veggies.  Thanks for the suggestion.
