A report released last Thursday by Land Title Gurantee Co. reported an increase in real estate sales in Pitkin County, up 45% in November 2010 as compared to 2009. This is a huge indicator for the upper-end market in Pitkin County especially considering that it was fewer sales which contributed to the increase.
Overall, sales totaled $1.14 Billion for the year through November 2010 as compared to $991.31 Million for the same time period in 2009. The number of transactions decreased by 3% - 622 for the year through November 2010 and 642 for the same time period in 2009.
These numbers can be very deceiving for people however, as a disproportionate number of high-end sales can make up a lot of ground. Overall we are seeing good activity in the high end market and expect that the lower end of the Aspen market will catch up as prices continue to stabilize.
