A man who won't die for something is not fit to live.

On December 28, 2010, in the nation of Tunisia, Mohamed Bouazizi (seen below) did something very few would do: self-immolation. When the police confiscated his only means of income, a small fruit cart, he snapped. He was in debt, and his only means of support was taken away. In a country where unemployment is rampant, corrupt politics from the President Ben Ali (seen in the suit, below) on down, inflation rising rapidly, food prices hitting peaks, Internet censorship, government turning into a dictatorship, etc. in his homeland of Tunisia, the pressures of the day were too much. When life becomes unbearable . . . you lose hope, and sight, and snap.
To illustrate just how retarded President Ben Ali is . . . THE SCHMUCK in the suit -- goes to the hospital FOR A FREAKING PHOTO OP!!! Oh, sure let's visit Mohamed in the hospital . . . while he's in an INDUCED COMA!! Hey Ben . . . it was kinda like "visiting" a twig in the forest, wasn't it?
I love the three doctors in the photo. Body language with arms crossed, and glaring directly at Ben Ali . . . "You bastard, WTF are you even here?" is what it looks like they're saying.
Because of Bouazizi's protests -- this triggered the events which led the Tunisian people to protest in mass and paved the way for the exhile of this despot -- President Ben Ali -- who has fled Tunisia! His mansions, villas have been . . . well, let's just say, disposed.
Mohamed Bouazizi succumbed to his injuries January 4, 2011.

A man must decide whether he will walk in the light of creative altruism or in the darkness of selfishness
~ Martin Luther King, Jr.
Dégagé = detached, uninvolved, unconcerned, lacking in interest of care or feeling
Apparently, Ben Ali saw that protestor's sign and tried to shed the Dégagé label by "visiting" a man . . . in a medically induced COMA!

Freedom is never voluntarily given by the oppressor; it must be demanded by the oppressed.

Protestors in Tunisia demanding . . . FREEDOM!

He who passively accepts evil is as much involved in it as he who helps to perpetrate it. He who accepts evil without protesting against it is really cooperating with it.
~ Martin Luther King, Jr.
On January 6, 2011, over 1,000 Tunisian lawyers staged a national strike and demonstration, joining the protest and showing support for the Tunisian citizens who have been victims of the current, corrupt political system.
Another man who would not passively accept evil is Tunis Air pilot, who REFUSED to take off and fly members of Ben Ali's family to Lyons, France. BRAVO!!
"It was a courageous act that merits being highlighted," Ali Miaoui, director of Tunis Air's French division, told AP Television News.

Human progress is neither automatic nor inevitable... Every step toward the goal of justice requires sacrifice, suffering, and struggle; the tireless exertions and passionate concern of dedicated individuals.

Tunisia is a country located in the northern part of Africa. Good article about the situation.
The past 23-years can be summed up as: Corrupt leader and wife pretty much used the country as their private piggy bank . . . robbing the till, living an extravagant lifestyle, putting their fingers in every-body's cookie jar and pocket book. They ran the place total Mafia style. And that "Corporate Culture" trickled down.
Then came the Internet. Facebook, YouTube . . . and because TV was already heavily censored, people went online. They talked about how displeased they were with the way things were going in their nation. Then the Internet was censored.
Reminiscent of Baby Huey Doc who got ousted from Haiti in the early '80's, Ben Ali, and his wife were also run out of town on a rail just a few days ago. Only thing is . . . they fled to Saudi Arabia. And I hope to hell they stay there and that France will have some balls this time and NOT let these flee flea bags in. France has a tendency to take in deposed leaders. But, I think Saudi Arabia is a befitting place for the exiled President of Tunisia and his wife, No strolls down des Champs-Élysées for you!!
