I Was Tagged.....Are You next??.... Now, It's All about MeMe! Plus Can You Guess A Piece of Trivia About Me?

By
Home Stager with Rooms With Style

So now you get to learn some weird things about me and I'll even make you guess one.

But what is a meme do you ask?   It is all about me and I am going to tell you some things you wouldn't find out in any of my other posts.

I was tagged in Valerie Zinger's post which started by Eleanor Thorne's The 2011 BHAG MeMe.    But what is a BHAG?  It is BIG HAIR AUDACIOUS GOAL.    Here's Eleanor's MeMe Rules (please paste the following paragraph into your post as you are tagged)

What is YOUR Big Hairy Audacious Goal (BHAG) is for 2011. I'd also like to know more about you, and your background, what is it about you that makes this BHAGso important?  What experiences are you bringing with you into 2011 that will make this BHAG work? So I'm asking you to please share 5 or 6 things about yourself, and then tag.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Here is my BHAG for 2011 : To become healthier. I know that sounds like a clique but I have chronic pain due to having fibromyalgia and recovering from 2 injuries. I'm tired of pain so I want to get stronger and more fit which will help the pain.

I have a second BHAG and that is to become more tech savvy with all the social media options for marketing my business. No more putting it off!! It's only Jan. 19th and I already have increased the "likes" on my Business Facebook Page from 4 to almost 60, have set up a Google Profile, learned more about Keywords, and have 3 pages of blog ideas down on paper.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

A little about me that you may not know:

1) I was born and grew up in North Dakota. I went to a two room school house with no plumbing so we had outhouses. And no.....I am not THAT old. I was the only second grader and the town I lived in was less than 50 people.

2) In high school we moved to the big metropolis of Fargo, North Dakota where I graduated in a class of over 500. My high school had over 2000 kids in it which is 40 times larger than my previous home town!! Quite a change.

3) I had my picture in Teen Beat Magazine back in the 70's when Michael Jackson was on the cover. Can you guess why????

4) Although first going to college for Interior Design I went back to school for Accounting. I received a BS in Accounting and then got my Master of Business Taxation Degree. Can you say Boring??

5) I was a CPA/Tax Accountant for 25 years first in International Accounting Firms and then owning my own practice; all of those years in Minneapolis, MN. Six years ago I was trained in Home Staging and knew it was what I was suppose to do to get back to my first love.

6) I am in the 30th year of being with my husband. What do I get for 30 years? Emeralds? Diamonds? The Caribbean? Just so it's not a 'Paper' anniversary. I had enough of that while being a tax accountant.

7) I am a HUGE animal lover and we rescue abused and neglected St. Bernards and nurse them back to health until they find their forever homes. We currently have two Saints of our own. Timber is 192 lbs. and Sally is 155 pounds.

Sally and Timber at Dog Park

8) I read a book a week and knit sweaters, mittens, and purses for fun.

So now.....drum roll please...... I tag Roger Mucci, Tammy Pearce, Cara Marcelle Mancuso, Craig Daniels and Jane Grant. Write your post and then come back here and post your link.

And don't forget to guess....Why was my picture in Teen Beat Magazine in the 70's?

Wow - this post was so exciting and fun to read and then there I am, tagged at the bottom!  What big steps to follow!  I think you were in Teen because you were the town's championship baton twirler...  Ok...off to think of my blog post...

Oh....I did love Donny Osmond Sally. He was even better at 40 in Joseph and The Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. I would have loved to have been the Pres of his fan club and met him!! But I digress.........

I did twirl baton Cara! But not as well as my sister's so no....that wasn't it. Oh, and my one sister twirled rifles and knives too. I think it's a ND thing. I should write a book!

So the answer is:   Valerie was close. It did involve a crown. I was 15 when I was crowned Miss 16 of North Dakota. Now how is that for an accomplishment! LOL. It wasn't a real pageant. It had way more to do with brains than beauty that's for sure. I also got one of those sash things they drape over you. What are those called? I think the crown and sash and magazine are somewhere in a box. The 50 Miss Sixteens were in the magazine. I was the dorkiest from ND. Miss California was so cool. I actually hid the magazine when it came out I was so embarrassed. So that's it. My 1 minute of claim to fame.

I loved everyone's hysterical guesses! You are all so creative. Can we do that again?? I have a couple more weird things. LOL

Hi Shar - Wow!!  Not just interesting facts about you, but a quiz as well! Sorry I didn't weigh in earlier, but I probably wouldn't have gotten close anyway. Very funny speculation by everyone! You have such an incredible background - and 30 years with your husband! Were you 5 when you got married??

I love it that you're involved with rescued dogs. What an awesome thing to do. I'm so glad to know more about you!

Damn, and I thought you were going to tell us that you really were LaToya Jackson.  So getting the crown as the "Biggest Loser" wasn't your first crown..............so cool Shar, I love it.

No, it was my second crown Roger. But the one you gave me was prettier.

I'm half Norwegian Valerie does that count?

Huge celebrity Laura...HUGE. LOL   The only thing celebrity about it was the night I won I was at a sold out Kenny Roger's concert that our high school had won (he was big back then, ha) and they announced it at the concert. That was kind of cool. 20 seconds of fame.

Thanks for posting Cara. Loved your post and learning more about you!

Oh you should see me in my tiara Janice. I wear it everyday. LOL

I don't think things from that far back are on the internet Anna, ha. But yes, I was Miss 16 of North Dakota so all the girls from 50 states were in the magazine. My 2 mintues of fame.

Shar - fabulous post! I can totally see you with a tiara and sash :) As to the CPA part - its not boring if you love playing with numbers! My dad is a CPA and he re-arranges my financials like I re-arrange people's homes ... lol!

I hope you meet your goals and beat back your chronic pain. Being healthy is vital to being happy - its amazing what a psychological lift it can be to get rid of constant pains. My mom has lived all her life with pain until a few years ago when she decided to try some different ways of dealing with the pain. Instead of overly medicating, she started working out (gently) and looked for herbal supplements which could help. Its not perfect now, but its a lot better and she's much happier and free spirited.

Thank you Heather. I really appreciate your encouragement. My pain is definitely better when I work out so I need to not only schedule the time but give myself permission to do so. I don't take meds for the pain, never have but I understand and feel for your Mom. I take tons of supplements too. Here is to us getting better!

Shar, I was going to guess baton twirling, too. Nice BHAGs -- and I'm really glad you came full circle and are doing what you've loved for so long.

Shar - I finally get to read your MeME and what an interesting read it is! A tax accountant to an accomplished home stager: talk about doing a 180 - awsome, you are no slacker! We both love and rescued our dogs - I knew we had other things in common! Congratulations on 30 years of marriage! To answer your question: You were a teen model? I know I'm right...

One of the most fun MeMe's so far!  Lucky girl appearing in Teen Beat...I was a huge Teen Beat and Tiger Beat fan, Bobby Sherman was my fav at the time.  I also loved Michael Cole and David Cassidy.

I've never heard of anyone being the only 2nd grader in their town before!  Sounds really lonely, LOL! What did they do with you?  I also had over 500 in my graduating class.

I am very familiar with the suffering of fibromyalgia, my sister has had it for years.  It's a terrible thing to live with.  It appears you aren't letting it slow you down and have found a way to get past it.

Yeah Kristine, the whole right brain/left brain thing. It's why I am so confused. ha. Not even close on the Teen Model thing. I was 'Miss 16 of North Dakota'. All 50 gals were in the magazine. Not a true beauty pageant by any means, more brains than beauty on that one!

Oh David Cassidy....me too Sharon! :) Second grade was lonely when they called "second grade reading" and I was the only one to go to the chairs by the black board. Ha. I had to know all the answers because there was no one else to answers the questions!! I wasn't lonely otherwise since grades 1-4 were all in the same room. I'm dealing well with fibromyalgia. I am one of the better ones fortunately.
