Shipe Park is located in the heart of the historic Hyde Park neighborhood, in the central area of Austin Texas. Just google map 44th and Avenue F. and you'll find us.
In celebration of Austin Parks Foundation's It's My Park Day, Hyde Park neighbors and friends, and volunteers from around the city will participate in the annual clean-up and landscaping day at Shipe Park. Last year volunteers of all ages joined in the fun to honor our park.
On this great day we will improve the park by spreading mulch, landscaping, removing invasive plant species and debris, aerating and fertilizing the field, beautifying the interior pool areas, spiffing up the play-scape, and anything else we can think of to make Shipe Park a better place.
Hosted this year by the "Friends of Shipe Park", we will also have an info booth for the recently approved public art project - a ceramic mosaic mural to be installed on the pump house wall of Shipe Pool.
HOW TO VOLUNTEER
As a volunteer, you can help us build upon last year's successful efforts. Please register online. Just go to the Austin Parks Foundation web site at: http://austinparks.org. If you are able to bring snacks or treats they will be most welcome. FREE T-SHIRTS & LIVE MUSIC
All volunteers who are pre-registered will get a free T-shirt, so be sure to register early and indicate your size. And, there will be live music to keep the energy level high!
CREW LEADERS NEEDED
In addition to general worker bees, organizers are looking for people willing to serve as crew leaders for activities including: sign-in & refreshments table, creek clean-up, plant maintenance/removal, spreading mulch, etc. etc. Send Phillip & Rhonda an e-mail if you are interested in serving as the leader of one of these activities.
It's going to be a great day of fun, food, music and communtiy service. I can't wait. I hope to see you there!
