Started playing around with QR codes, it has been a lot of fun. I first printed them on Avery magnet paper and stuck it on the yard sign, (will not work with plastic signs!you could use peel and stick paper, may be hard to get off!) our signs are metal. When I did this the first time I thought if no one knows about it then they will not know what it is! But it did work and I got a new prospect and sold one property sense starting. We have Andriod phones and got the reader app for it. The site I found to be easy to use is qrstuff.com , it lets you put the code in text,URLs,MEM messaging and a lot more ways. If you Google QR you will get all kinds of sites to get info and generators that are free. You can also find them on your smart phone. I am still working on using it, but so far its been fun. You can also use them in print media to direct someone to a web page. Trulia is offering QR codes for your listings, just go to your listings page and click on the more options tab and go to QR codes, it will send you the code so you can print it. Anyway this is my is my first blog and kinda fun.
I have been thinking about doing magnetic QR codes for my signs as well. Did you print them out with an ink jet printer? If so how did they hold up in the rain?
Welcome to Activerain! Very good job on your first post. I have been playing around with the QR codes myself but can't figure out the benefit of using them. One thing I do know...eventually someone is going to write a blog that will make it all click for me. That's the great thing about Activerain!
So far so good and we get a lot of wind here and still there. I tryed to put a code in my blog but when I sent it the QR was gone??? I will try and figure it out and do another comment.
I have some great plans for QR codes coming up and can't wait to share the results when I'm done with the experiment. Those who are planning this with me are really looking forward to seeing the results as well.
what a learning curve on these. Each phone has a different app or code reader so besides making a code for your business, you have to find the right code reader to install on your phone. 45 minutes later and now that I know which to use, the server is down...have to give it a go another time. Argh....
Elisa, don't give up its a lot of fun to play around with, we have an interest in a restaurant and for fun I put our menu on the front door and people even clicked on it.Thanks for the post
Is there any chance you can tell me if this code works? Apparently my phone is too old and I don't want to use it without confirming I did it right:0 It should take you to my website. I hope you don't mind! Thanks!
Hi Elisa,
It takes me to a Facebook link then to a Oakland ca map, Not to your web site? Sorry it toke so long to get back I was out of town.
Mike
Magnetic QR codes are a great way to advertise. Check out this website for inexpensive qr code magnets that will work with all types of signs (includes strong magnets for front and back of sign). Magnets are on sale today for $2.50 (2pack), they are normally 4.99/2pk. Thanks!
