Although the heading of this blog sounds as though this event may be for cultural appreciation, it is actually to celebrate the annual journeys of many migratory animals that pass though Santa Cruz, CA. This event at Natural Bridges State Beach on February 12th will be the 23rd annual festival since it's inception. This free family oriented festival will supply live music by the nature loving group, 5M's Band, speakers, learning and activity center done by local Santa Cruz community groups, crafts, skits, and more. You can even purchase a picnic to benefit the state beaches while you're there.

Many of the migratory animals celebrated include the gray whales, elephant seals, monarchs, and even newts."There's just so much going on to see, appreciate and celebrate," says Regional Park Interpeter Elizabeth Hammack. And she's right, seeing as though people come from near and far to go whale watching in the Santa Cruz bay area, and come to the annual monarch festival in October. Read more about this great event that will be sure to be a great day for the family.
