OK...I Admit It....My Client and I Were Holding Hands Today
Today was a really weird day. I am totally exhausted tonight. Just having been snowed on, sleeted on, and rained on is enough. I LOOK like I had a hard day - or just got out of the shower, threw my clothes on and went out.
The snow here in Shelton, CT has been relentless. Today we had the added freebie of ice on top of everything. Charming.
I had a closing today with the walkthrough scheduled immediately before. Schools were closed today and roads were not exactly in tip top shape. I ventured to the condo where I was meeting my client.
I pulled into the lot and .... so far so good. THEN I came to THE (although) small downhill. I tested my brakes and uh..oh. I am in BIG trouble. The ICE ATTACK!!!
(Quick rewind in my mind to two years ago when my family and I broadsided a truck getting out of our street when we could not stop due to ice under about a ¼" of snow).
I saw my client's car parked down the hill. I looked around as I was sliding and quickly turned to the right to attach myself onto a snow bank to gain traction and was able to park my SUV. Whew!! Made it! {{Bless myself}}
Now I looked at the skating pond between me and the door to the condo. Ugh. More trouble.
My client emerged from his car and called out ‘Wait, I'll come rescue you! (No he really did not say that. That only happens in movies, dreams and romance novels.)
He did come up to meet me (halfway) and then we carefully used the snow bank edge to maneuver our way to the condo via ice covered walks. He offered his hand to me and, of course, I hung on for dear life. We made it in.....
There's more to the story....about how we eventually got out of there safely... but that's another story. Then I thought of this...
We as realtors hold our client's hand through the entire transaction. Now MY client was holding my hand and helping me. Corny? No. Really nice..
You see, we have developed a great relationship. He and his wife and son are SUCH nice people. I helped them...they helped me.... and you know what? I would hold their hand anytime. Ice or not. Handholding is a sign of endearment. I hold these clients dear to me, always.
BTW, we closed successfully. No problems. Just real nice. Just like my clients.
