As a Realtor and 10-year resident of Framingham, MA I have had the privilege of learning a lot about what the Town has to offer. It all became abundantly clear recently as a co-worker and I met with an employee of the Framingham Public Library who is establishing a Welcomers Center within the library for new residents. She asked us, "As realtors, what would you tell someone who was new to town about Framingham?" We spent the next 20 minutes rattling off all the wonderful things that Framingham offers. In no particular order, below are many.
- Abundance of restaurants - Too many to list. Everything from chains to specialty and ethnic foods.
- Abundance of stores - Too many to list. Everything from chains, malls, and specialty stores.
- Colleges - Framingham State College, Mass Bay Community College, Clark University
- Industry - Industrial Park has Bose, Genzyme, Federal Express and more; Staples Corp; Hotels, State Police, MEMA, etc.
- State Parks - Lake Cochituate (boating, swimming, and fishing), and Callahan St Pk (dog-friendly, horseback riding, and biking)
- Easy access to main routes - MA Turnpike, Rt 495, Rt 128, Rt 9, Rt 20, Rt 30 and more.
- Diversity - Very diverse community
- Public Schools - School choice throughout, Bi-lingual program, SAGE (adv educ), Charter School, Keefe Vocational Tech Schl
- Private Schools - St Tarcissius, St Bridget's, Marian HS
- Hospitals - MetroWest Medical Ctr, Wellness Ctr, Southboro Med Ctr, Lahey Clinic
- Libraries - Two great libraries on opposite sides of town
- Celebrity Visits - President Clinton, The Rock
- Community Events - Many townwide events including Flag Day Festival, Park & Rec programs, Garden in the Woods
- Services - Framingham Coalition, SMOC, Salvation Army, Criminal Court, Juvenile Court, Registry of Motor Vehicles, and Callahan Senior Ctr
- Transportation - Amtrak Train service (Worcester to South Station); The Ride (bus serv)
- Religious Orgs - Many and of various religions
- Location - Framingham borders Natick, Ashland, Marlboro, Sudbury, Wayland and Southborough.
- Entertainment - An abundance of bars (not sure that's a GOOD thing), several have live entertainment (Desmond O'Malley's, Rat Pack Cafe, Chicken Bone Saloon); Framingham 16 Cinema (with luxury seating in attached theatre); Performing Arts Center; and Fun & Games video arcade.
- Housing - My favorite category ... we've got an abundance of listings!! Currently, over 200 condos for sale; over 240 single familys for sale; and over 30 multi-families for sale. Buyers welcome!!
- Golf - Two golf courses (Framingham Country Club and Millwood Golf Course)
