Downtown Anchorage is offering several free events to the public during the first part of 2011. Bring the family or your date and your ice skates to downtown Anchorage every Friday evening and Sunday afternoon until the end of February 2011 to enjoy free ice skating in Anchorage. Enjoy Date Night Skate on Fridays from 5pm to 9pm. The Performing Arts Center will allow all skaters to warm up in their facilities between skating as well as use of their bathrooms. Sunday afternoons are reserved for Family Skate sessions from 1pm to 4pm.
In addition to free skating, visitors to the downtown Anchorage area during the months of January of February 2011 can view professionally carved ice sculptures on display at the Crystal Gallery of Ice. This, too, is absolutely free to the public.
From January 21st through April 30th, 2011, 20 restaurants in downtown Anchorage are participating in the 100 Days of Downtown Dining competition. During this 100 days, diners at any of 20 specific downtown restaurants will receive stickers to place on a game card. If you don't have a game card, make sure to ask the restaurant for one. Every time you dine at any of these restaurants, simply ask for a sticker to add to your game card. Prizes are easy as dining out!
Add 6 stickers to a game card, receive a $10 dining certificate
Add 12 stickers to a game card, receive a $25 dining certificate
Add 20 stickers to a game card (will fill the card up), receive TWO $25 dining certificates
At the end of the 100 days, there will be a drawing from all cards turned in by participating diners. Cards must be received in person or via mail to the Anchorage Downtown Partnership offices (333 West 4th Ave #317, Anchorage, AK, 99501) by May 15th. The Grand Prize Package includes prizes from Allure Day Spa, Alaska Cub passes, dinner and show tickets and a one night stay at Hotel Captain Cook.
