QR Coding - 2 dimensional coding versus - Bar Coding - 1 dimensional coding. Whats all that mean? 2 dimensional coding doesn't just read a code, like a Bar Code reader, it actually makes their reader perform an act, your still looking at me like What?
Is it new technology? No - I had read that it was invented back in the 90s by a guy named "Denso" that worked for a Toyota Manufacturing Plant - he wanted the robots on the assembly line to perform different funtions at different times, so when something came down the line - the robot read the QR Code, and performed the action. The reason its getting all the new attention - is the spread of these little black boxes we call smartphones - last I heard there were over 50 million iPhones and about 3 million Droid based phones - if your don't have - yoru going to have to get one someday.
#1 Reason I like QR Coding - ITS FREE !
OK, to better understand this, take your iPhone or Droid, and go to your App store and download your free - QR Reader - I chose the AT&T Scanner, seems to work pretty good.(if your still using a crackberry - its time to unload that old manual typewriter and wake up to new technology)
Ok - where do I use it? On all your print advertising, I was looking at my sons Skateboarding magazine the other day - many ads had QR codes in them - sad thing is somebody sold them on the idea, and didnt really explain it, so many times the DPI on the print ad is not good enough for QR code to be read. So make sure your printing company uses a high enough resolution for it to work properly.
Key things to remember - use it correclty, I have seen people get all excited and put a code on their buisness card, and all it is - is a picture of there business card - bad use - make it actually upload your business card onto there phone - here try this one
Go ahead and upload it - you can delete me later - this is the correct usage for QR Codes
Can you imagine puling out your business card - and just having your client scan it - then putting your card back in yoru pocket - its awesome!
Another great use - I have a flyer in the window at my office, along with 10 other agents and their flyers, guess what though - mine has a QR Code on each one of my listings
Try this one
Ok - one of my favorites
More great uses - SIGN RIDERS - you should have one on very sign you have out there, many QR CODE generators have a link to actually purchase these riders or even just the decal it self, and put it on the sign.
