It happens to everyone, we get focused on a "thing."  In our effort to claim our goal, we sometimes miss other opportunities.

I've been exploring options of putting my business in the "cloud."  Google has been my first and foremost choice, mainly because it is versatle, stable and will be there when I need it.

Google has a user interface that is  known for it's simplicity.  Sometimes it's so simple it fails to make sense.  I.E. when trying to send an email to a group of people I didn't realize I could access it from the email compose screen.  I was going the long way into "contacts" grabbing the group, selecting all the members then clicking the email button.

Today when I was demonstrating this at my office's tech forum, one of the agents brought it to my attention that I was taking the long way. Ah Ha!  I love those moments when my eyes open wide and see the possibilities I previously was blind too.

How many times a day does this happen?

Obviously it's a good thing when we can focus on getting something done to the exclusion of all else that doesn't matter.  It's a way to get things done and accomplish goals, but wearing blinders is not always the best.

Keeping an open mind and having the curiosity of a kid is the best way to learn new things.

<Photo Story: One night while enjoying the sunset behind the Rocky Mountains, I looked north to Denver (12 miles away) and saw this amazing sun- lit cloud dwarf the city.  Had I maintained a focus to the west I would have missed this scene to the north.)

Hi Krystal, gorgeous photo..love it.  You are so correct in making the comment that we should keep an open mind and have the curiosity of a kid for this is the best way to learn new things.  Good post...enjoyed it.

Hi Krystal,

It is a breathtaking photo. Thanks for sharing it. Yes I have had those Ah Ha moments when you do something the same way for so long it must be right! Then someone comes along and shows the short cut. I usually chuckle at myself and let them know they are smart!!

Awesome photo! And nice metaphoric use of it too.  See you in the cloud . . . and in the City.

KK - Spectacular photo to help illustrate your point. And it's a great one. I think it is often easy to get so focussed on a particular path we miss the fact that there are other roads that could be taken, perhaps to our benefit.
