Learning a New Language

Real Estate Agent with Prime Real Estate

OK so I have been eying the Rosetta Stone programs and wow are they expensive but I hear totally worth it.  I was in Staples today picking up some items with my husband tonight and as I walked past the display and ran my hand over the top of the box and all but drooled on it my husband looked at the box.  I heard this gasp and I turned around  and looked and he says just so you know for almost eight hundred dollars I better not hear you even mutter one word of English ever again. I said what he repeated it again and I said quit being silly he said I know you and you'll be all into it and then you will get bored with it.

So I was thinking geesh I would really love to learn how to speak another language and so I come home, get on the computer and right there on facebook was a post about learning Chinese at the local college for 120.00 well maybe I wasn;t planning on Chinese I was thinking Spanish but this should get my feet wet and at least if I give it up it was 120.00 and not 800 LOL.

How about anyone else have you taken a language to further your career?

Valarie, I actually speak 2 languages and found that very helpful in our line of business. It might surprise you to read that is is not so much because of the language itself. I find it helpful because it taught me to be a better listener!

I think Chinese is a wonderful idea. It is so hard to learn. You will listen better and you might meet potential clients! Something your other system cannot offer!

Best of luck to you and keep us posted!

Valerie, I want to speak another language too.  Let me know how this college thing goes.  i think I need to find an affordable way to tackle this too.

I already speak some other languages, and decided I wanted to learn German. I've been using Rosetta stone to do it, and it's awesome.  I spent almost 1600 hours in classroom learning Hungarian. I wish it had been on Rosetta stone. I find that I learn much faster and have better retention with it.
