A while back I wrote a post on a neighborhood anchor store closing. We were wondering about the impact of this closure. http://activerain.com/blogs/rgdlm/tags/albertsons   I Just passed by a guy holding a sign. "Store Closing,

Kmart, store closingthis store only, Everything must go! This should get really interesting now. I don';t know how all of the little satellite stores will be able to hang on now. This Kmart store is the other anchor store in a shopping complex.Kmart Closing The stores are on a rather busy corner off theBangerter Highway and 5400 South.

I would almost have to chalk tthis one up to poor customer service. It has been quite a while since I shopped regularly in this store. It took forever to check out, even if there was nobody in line. Usually only one cashier. The store was well stocked and had a great location. closed Albertsons storeThe loss of the Albertson's store had an impact as well, but I really think the lack of responsive customer service was the biggest downfall. There is a Target store now within a 10 minute drive and they have great customer service. It doesn't take long for people to go where they are treated well. I feel bad for the businesses surrounding the two stores here. We'll see what happens.

When one door closes another one opens up. You now have the opportunity to fill a space.

Randy, I was in a K-Mart the other day, and it was really awful!  And they wonder why they wind up having to close!  It's the market place in action.  I just home that someone else comes in to fill the gap.

Randy,

The Alberton's in Holladay which moved from it's old location is a nice store however the old location is still empty.  It's been around three years and a big empty box still sits there.  Their relocation more or less cratered the entire strip mall as they were the anchor client.  Luckily the new build Holladay State liquor store across the street is packing them in!  What are you going to do??

It looks like someone is working in the old Albertson's store. Maybe things aren't as bad as they could be.

Patricia, It's all about attitude and you can tell it isn't there even from the top. I would love to see their people make a difference. I have seen individuals make a huge difference.

Joe, Wow a liquor store can bring em in. There is one just around the corner from the Kmart and Albertson's. It gets pretty busy at times and seems to be a constant draw.

David, It could be a great opportunity you are right.
