NEW milestone for me -- 50,000 points.
When I first joined Active Rain in August of 2008, I saw people with 50,000- 500,000 points and thought I would never get there. Now here I am.
I took my time getting here, but I proved that I can do it. I wrote one blog the first year and one blog in 2009. I see people on here that are two months NEW and have more blog posts than I do.
When I got a phone call from another Active Rain member, that gave me a good kick in the pants. It showed me what Active Rain is truly about. People helping each other.
Recently I joined a group contest and forced myself to take action.
Now I see ACTION = RESULTS.
For all the NEWBIES that ask the question -- "how do I get a lot of points?"
Log in every day (100 points). Blog daily (200 points each) Comment (25 points each). Ten comments per day. Re blog (25 points) Invite others and get points from their activity. Points are given for updating your profile. Like the name Active Rain says -- get Active. To learn more, read the manual.
Look in groups. Find some groups that interest you and join. Read, comment and post to those groups. Subscribe to blogs that you enjoy reading.
Not sure how to do something? Go to the "search" link at the top, type in a question or phrase and you will find a blog about it. Also look at the FAQ link at the bottom of the page.
Remember, it isn't just about the points. The points are a nice bonus but it is more about putting yourself out there. Getting exposure. Getting noticed. Getting business. People don't know who you are or what you do if you don't speak up.
