Flags Are Always Unfurled Here!

While driving down the street , I almost drove past this giant flag without noticing it . . . because it was doing what flags do around here - flapping vigorously in the daily wind.  It is only when flags hang limply from their ropes that we stop in our tracks and say, "Hey, the wind isn't blowing...." as we look around suspiciously.

American Flag

Flag flying here is not for the timid as the message will be delivered  "Loud and Proud".

P.S.  Flags flown here get tattered quickly, needing replaced every 4 to 8 months.
There are probably plans to replace this one.  So please, don't let its tattered condition offend you!

Had to smile when I read this, coming from another land of the constantly blowing wind. It's always sad when some business owner decides they can't afford to keep replacing their tattered flag, and the scenery becomes that much less pretty.

Hi Joetta,  So true!  You have to admire the ones that do fly them faithfully - they have to replace them frequently AND go out and raise them everyday in all kinds of weather.

Hi Brenda - I have been referred to as one of those "wind people" by power boaters.  The wind is a good thing.  Besides letting flags fly free, it powers the sailboat.  Grin  Thanks for the blog.  Sailboat

Brenda,  I always love photos of our flag.  It is surprising that they don't need to be replaced daily in Wyoming. LOL

Steve - Flags and Sailboats.  Good comparison, both are at their best in the wind!

Hi Gary - Thanks for stopping by.  Funny thing is, the flag was flapping around so furiously that I didn't even know it was tattered until I uploaded the pictures!
