By all accounts, 2010 was a very challenging year for real estate sales, in and around our resort communities.  However, we feel strongly that our firm’s focus, dedication and marketing efforts, were the right tools to achieve the results that our buyers and sellers wanted to accomplish.

So far to date in 2011 things are looking much better.  Vail has started 2011 with 17 properties going under contract already in January (5 of the 17 are listed by SSF), and 7 properties have already closed this month (SSF was involved in 4 of the 7).   In the areas of Beaver Creek, Bachelor Gulch and Arrowhead, 2011 has started with 9 properties going under contract (5 of the 9 are listed by SSF) and 5 properties have closed (SSF was involved in 4 of the 5).  The details will follow in next month's market report.

Below are several charts showing our firm’s sales activity during 2010.  This information was gathered from data reported to the Vail Board of Realtor’s MLS system.  Of special significance, is the chart showing “new written” sales volume for the month of December, during the last 5 years.  If December 2010 is an indication of future activity, then it will be a welcome sign to our local real estate market.
