Im writing this blog thanks to Karen's inspiration of making a Fellow Foodies group. I love to cook and eat too. What a challenge at the gym! lol! Anyway, my son and I are true critics of good wings and have even helped a couple of new restaurants get them right. So where are the best wings in town? After a little restaurant burned down 2 years ago, my son and I agree, it's hands down Bobby Valentines Restaurant. Yes the baseball player opened his first joint here over 20 years and after expanding then downsizing, it's the last. And still going strong. The wings are on the small side and always crispy and their sauce is just right bringing the right amount of sweat to the brow. Where's your favorite wings?
Hi, Victoria! I can tell you where my favorite wings are NOT...Wings to Go here in Columbia, Maryland. I paid $40 for 40 wings and they were horrible! The flavor of the sauce was ok, but there was absolutely no meat on the bones whatsoever! I'm the type who doesn't like to eat chicken skin, so I normally peel the skin off of my wings, but not these wings! The skin was all there was to them!! My neighbor does his own wings and they are fabulous! After he deep fries them, he sprinkles them with Old Bay seasoning (www.oldbay.com) while they are still hot and moist ...YUM!
Victoria, i am not a huge fan of chicken wings, but people that I know keep on telling me that J. Timothy's in Plainville has excellent ones.
Where's my favorite wings? umm.... MY HOUSE!? Does that count? Probably not.. seriously though.. I make a mean batch of wings that I can't get anywhere else.. most are too greasy, salty or not spicy enough... :) A little narcissistic yes.. ha!
Yes, Tammy....ditto what Victoria said!
Thanks for posting your blog here in Fellow Foodies, Victoria!
Best,
Karen
oh silly easy.. I just bake my wings at 400 degrees (nothing on them!), flipping once half way until they are crispy, then toss them in a bunch of different type of sauce, the old standby, Frank's red hot and butter, a ginger peanut sauce, (mix peanut butter, shredded ginger, soy sauce and rice vinegar), If I want smoky I add in a chipotle pepper with some of the adobo sauce to the hot wing mix, or even more, we will chop up a ghost chili! (That's knock your socks off hot!)
I also do a honey BBQ sauce or honey mustard.. but the basic chicken wing is just lay them out on a baking sheet and bake at 400 for 1 hour turning half way. They get crispy with no grease. :) Have fun!
