365 things to do in Worcester County - take a class at Assabet after dark in Marlborough. I just got my bi-yearly mailing of Assabet continuing education Spring 2011 catalog. I read through it and was so impressed with the extensive offering of this educational program that I decided to feature it in my blog. Ok So Marlborough is in the neighboring Middlesex County. But it's litterally bordering Worcester County and when I decide to write a blog on Middlesex County, I promise to mentioned items in Worcester county, to really confuse you folks.
At first glance, it has all the offerings a night school should; there are programs for continuing education and personla enjoyment. I usually peak at programs that do with studio art and dancing. But today, I was impressed with the specific skills the Assabet program offers.
Skipping over all the "dry" subjects like word, publisher, excell, taxes and the like, I looked at the multiple different kinds of quilts you can make, you can do "the flying geese quilt" (triangle) or the Jelly Roll quilt. After the class for "hands on Blues and Harmonica" I found a class that was geared for someone like me: "instant Piano for hopelessly busy People", now isn't that just the best name?
In the section Business and finance, I found several interesting Real Estate related courses; Buying foreclosed properties I and II, First Time Home Buyer Workshop, buying in over 55+ community. All great resources for consumers.
I don't know, may be because I'm a foodie, the section that impressed me the most was the Cooking and Baking. Listen to these offerings: Taste of Southern Germany Spaetzle Making (for all of us who don't know what that is - it's pasta), Vegan Explorer, Cinco de Mayo Celebration (held on May 3, how appropriate), Hawaiian Luau, Going Greek, Kluski Pork Chops, and Golumpki ( You need an international dictionary to figure out what you signed up for), Crepes, and many, many more.
With all these offerings, I am making this, one of my 365 things to do in Worcester County - take a class at Assabet after dark in Marlborough
