As we start the new year I think it is important that we remember that our sphere of influence(SOI) can be the easiest business to obtain. Yet sometimes we can forget to stay in front of our SOI. Even before you start a career in real estate you have a SOI. Your sphere of influence can include family, friends, those with whom you do business, fellow organization or club members, etc....As you become active in real estate growing that sphere can be very important to your real estate career.
This is a true story that highlights how simple things can get you business! In 2006 I felt my real estate newsletter was too expensive so I canceled the subscriptions thinking I would get a cheaper one. Guess what? I didn't until 2010. As soon as I sent my first newsletter in 4 years, a past client contacted me. A couple of years earlier they had bought a house without the use of my services. Now they were just starting discussions of selling and guess who's newsletter popped up in their email? Mine. They immediately called and we started on listing their home. They apologized for not using me to purchase their current home but they just forgot. Shame on me!
