In the beginning there was the typewritters. Then came the portable wordprocessors. Afterward came the Personal Computer (PC). None of these devices was able to automatically correct spellings or grammar until Microsoft Word or WordPerfect came out with these features. Still the grammar help is the most underuse feature and not always perfect.
While I was doing my Masters in Business Administration, I always had to submit my papers to the University's online check to not only check for grammar but for plagiarism. The computer grammar check would help get you a "C" paper. Would have to go to the writting lab and have a good writing tutor to get an "A" paper, which both cost a lot of time and money.
Unfortunately I didn't stumble upon this website called grammarNow! (GrammarNow.com) until recently, which would answer any questions free or give priority (answer within 24 hours) for 5 questions for $5. For $1 per question, it was way cheaper than what I paid. Never know maybe someday it would be helpful for the purchase contracts that we need written or for corrections to a professional letter to a builder.
