Upstate South Carolina Unemployment Numbers December 2010

I have been blogging about the unemployment numbers for Anderson, Oconee and Pickens Counties in Upstate South Carolina for some time. And it appears that we are not moving in the right direction according to the numbers I have been keeping track of. I have been slowly trying to finish up the market reports for December and was actually seeing some glimmers of hope mingled among the scary statistics. And then I had to read this news...sigh.

You know, Mark, the thing that makes me crazy about the government's unemployment figures, is that I am quite certain that they do not include folks who have taken pay cuts, or who have had their unemployment benefits exhausted. Those people have fallen through the cracks as far as stats are concerned.

Jean don't get me started. I am not sure these numbers are completely realistic or honest. If the politicians admitted the truth about the economy and unemployment, there might be rioting in the streets.
