Owning a home has always been the American dream. Though lifestyle expectations have been changing and the declining marriage rate together with the weak economy and the rise in unemployment has effected the housing market, for families with children, owning a home still remains their American Dream.
Where do families with children choose to live and what are they looking for when they shop for that perfect community?? Communities with good schools, a low crime rates, local employment opportunities, low taxes, a reasonable cost of living, and access to parks and recreation are some of the things that drive the decision process.
Bloomberg and Businessweek.com evaluated 5,418 places to live in the U.S. The surveys focused on middle-income communities, where the median family income was within 20% of the state median, (According to the U.S. Census Bureau the median family income in 2009 was $61,082,)
