Wickford RI ...it's all about the Pink, Green, Teal colored Historic Houses

By
Real Estate Agent with RI Real Estate Services ~ 401-529-7849~ RI Waterfront Real Estate

One thing you could almost call notorious are the colors in Wickford RI ...it's all about the Wickford RI Homepink, green, teal colored historic houses.  It's better than a rainbow of color to inspire the artist, traveler as well as home buyer...it's the inspiration in the palette of home colors that can put you in awe.

Wickford RI HomeSee Wickford Village has been around since the 17th century and with its waterfront coastline it is one of most protected natural harbors around.  Besides Newport RI, it has one of the largest number of historic 18th century homes in the Northeast.  That is a huge draw to visitors, historical buffs and lovers of older homes (like me).  Wickford Village is all easily accessible on foot and on a spring day you will find the village square (yes, there really is one) busy with residents and visitors.  On a winter's day like today, you will probably have downtown Wickford mainly to yourself - along with the ducks, waterfront marina and unique shops.

I have talked about how Wickford historic homes are in a National Register Historic Places
Wickford RI Home area.  The local preservation commission ensures that the quality of any restoration is done in keeping with the period of the home...at least on the outside of the homes.  It's visibly pleasing that these homes do resemble Faberge eggs in the spring with their exterior painted colors of pink, green, teal, etc.

Actually tour buses find Wickford the place to bring people in the spring through late fall to enjoy the village and its folklore.  It is said that the famous author, John Updike, used Wickford village as his setting in writing the fictional novel The Witches of Eastwick!  So Wickford RI ...it's all about the Pink, Green, Teal colored Historic Houses...so come and explore.

Debbie...the colors look just right in this wickford village just because it does belong here...what i don't know is why the vibrant colors are chosen...nothing written on that?!....................................... ............................................................................................................................................................. Richard, well you know some buyers & renters have said that but i believe it 'grows' on you............. Joan...they really do look amazing especially in the spring when the flowering trees are in bloom.....it's a great little state .......................................................................................................... BLiz...it's interesting another historic community i lived in had it mandated that all the historic houses had to be white...it was boring....this is so refreshing...thanks

The historical society does an excellent job there Ginny.  Their processes can make it difficult but saving this piece of our history is something that simply needs to be constant.  One of my first listings fell under the societies mandate and it was a learning experience let me say.  Built in 1696 and I've never had any even near that age since.  1985 is "old" here!

I had also heard that about The Witches of Eastwick. I always like it when an author lets us see a little of what, where, why, or when he wrote a book.

I'm not that far away, but I've never been to Wickford. I like the information you've shared, Ginny, and someday when the snow melts and the sun shines again, I'll have to visit. Transplanted NYer, huh...that explains what I heard when we spoke. I was thinking...this doesn't sound like RI! I'm sure they are very glad to have you.

Ginny...Wickford Village in Wickford RI looks like one of those postcard scenes with all the colorful and historic homes.  You can't replicate that original charm.
