A Dying Breed

Earlier today, I was pulling into a parking spot at the the grocery store and noticed two carts in the dead center of the empty parking spot next to mine.  An older gentleman was pulling in to that spot as I got out of my car.  I could see the frustration in his eyes.  I walked around my car, and moved the carts out of his way.  He quickly shut off his car and beckoned me over to his door.  He said with a delightful Irish brogue "You sir, are part of a dying breed... a gentleman."  I couldn't help but to laugh and wish him a good day.  But the thing is - he made my day, not the opposite.

Go do something nice for someone today.  If they notice it, great.  If they don't, who cares?  Life's too short to be crabby.

It's funny that you would have suggest that. You're not a dying breed, you made a decision to have empathy for others without even being aware of it. Unless we do for others, even if its just moving a shopping car, we will never know what kindness. As I said you're not a dying breed, you're just outnumbered for the time being. I hope.

Nice Post.

If you are not part of a dying breed, what are those carts doing in the parking spot? We, as a whole, have become some what lax with being polite. Kudos to you!

Maria, maybe we're just getting a bit jaded here in Orlando.  Men's Health magazine just named Orlando America's "angriest city".  Please don't tell Mickey, he might have to "get medievil" on some poor unsuspecting tourist!

Keith, true true.

Wayne, yep and that's why Orlando is angry.  Thanks.

Home again, home again...

You're right... we gentlemen (I try to include myself into that August body) are a dying breed.  Because in the scenario that you're describing, most of the drivers, would run us over, as we tried to move the shopping carts.

Mitch,

Be honest, the kid in you thought about pushing and riding those carts into the store.
