Laramie, Wyoming. We have some culture, really - we do!  The challenge of this  just for fun series . . .

Can You Find It ?!

If you haven't been to - or live in - Laramie, Wyoming,  it won't be easy to do the  "Can You Find It?"  part of this challenge.  However,  I  hope  that  far  away  visitors  can  still  enjoy   the   pictures!

                              Eagle Veteran Memorial

I had no idea this one had been around this long!  It was commissioned by Edward Ivinson in 1922 and dedicated in 1924.  The inscription says it was dedicated to the Albany County veterans of the World War in 1917 and  1918.

(This series was inspired by Sculpture, A Wyoming Invitational.  www.uwartmuseum.blogspot.com )

Thanks,Dan.  It is beautiful, especially when  I realized it had stood there for 87 years and the inscription indicates that the people of that time had only been through ONE World War and weren't necessarily expecting another.

Hi Brenda - Anytime we can remember those that gave their lives in battle it is good.  These people gave their all so that we can have the freedoms we have today.  Thanks for the blog.

Brenda,

I am just amazed that you have all these cool statues there in Wyoming! I'm beginning to think my hubby is pulling my leg about there being "nothing there".

Hi Steve,  It is always good to take a moment to remember.  It surprised me how many names from our little area are on that monument.

Hi Virginia - It may not be much, but there is a little "something", you just have to look harder for it!  ; )
