Norma, I know just what you mean!  I love spending the afternoon in a library or a book store.  My two daughters loved going to the library when they were very young and they are both big readers in their adult life.

Barbara - a beautiful building well reviewed. Love libraries and what they contain. You taught your daughters well.

It was harder to get my Sandy Library card than for me to become a permanent resident of this country. I didn't have the local proof of who I was. I might have had a passport, employment approval, licenses and other indentification, and even my US wife in tow to say that we had a seasoned marriage certificare and where we lived, but the librarian insisted on utility bills, in my name only, to my home address, spanning a period of months. As you can imagine from this anecdote, that now I have my card, I value it highly.

Barbara, libraries are good - always. And with the modernization, I can download an eBook as well as request a book online etc. I hope the library is 'TECH SAVVY'....lol

My wife took my son tonight to our local library, I almost forgot with all the technology that they still exist.  What a great library they built for your community

Good Morning, Larry.  I think I knew you would be one that would love the library.  What a story you have about how hard it was for you to get your library card.  We often take simple pleasures for granted and this was far from simple for you.

Praful, thanks for your comment.  I have heard of many libraries being closed during these rough times.  I hope libraries will always be with us.  Keeping up with technology is important for survival - even in libraries.

Rene, I love the picture.  I just know that Amherst's library must be a cozy warm place to enjoy.  Thanks for putting up the picture.

Brian, I think many are forgetting about libraries in this busy high paced world of ours.  I know that I, as well as my daughters, feel in love with books from visits to the library.

Barbara- it's refreshing to know that in this age of Kindle's and computers, that communities are still funding public libraries.  I know that many of our seniors go to their library almost daily and make great use of them.

Libraries are great for Seniors, an excellent excuse to get out of the house.  I love libraries for children also.  Some of my fav memories of the early years for my two daughters were when we would spend an afternoon reading and checking out books.  It became a ritual with the three of us...also affordable.
