Your Second Home in Florida …

With Snow and cold up north, the mind turns to Florida and your second home…

I learned a long time ago (OK, about eight years ago)  that when the weather in the northeast gets cold and the snows start coming folks have a tendency to get “orange juice in their veins.”

Actually I coined the phrase after my first winter in real estate in Brevard County Florida.  I realized so many of the folks I was showing houses to were snowbirds who had come for a visit and “just had to buy a home here.”

Very few purchased but I learned about the effects of the orange juice!

Looking at my blogs today Florida Homes for Sale as well as Florida Homes and Condos for Sale   I realized that the majority of web site visitors over the past week have been from places up north like
  • Sharon, MA,
  • Chesapeake, VA (to us you are north!)
  • Rochester, NH,
  • Scarsdale, NY,
  • Halifax, Nova Scotia,
  • Hamburg, NJ
  • Memphis, TN (you are north too!),
  • Howell, NJ
Well, you get the picture!   So, as you struggle to stay warm, you start thinking of warmer climates think about  moving to Brevard County, Florida

I know it is the winter and it will only be 65 tomorrow!

I live in North Georgia and although, we typically do not get a lot of snow, we've had plenty this winter.  But I don't need snow to make me miss Florida.  It's a wonderful state and my adopted second home.  Orange juice in the veins is very clever.

Hmmm...you know, I've been thinking alot about this lately.  NOW is definitely the best time to make a Florida purchase for the future; I don't plan to work until I'm 100 and really want to reside coastal during retirement! Although I think NOW would be the best time to enjoy it--working on the coast, who can beat that?!

Hi Gary, I think you're on to something there, especially when the Northerners get a case of "orange juice in the veins".  You know a week ago we were the only state out of all 50 with no snow.  Now, how can you beat that?  I agree, there isn't a better time to consider a second home purchase right here in Florida!  Love it!

San Diego, CA

We got snow up in the mountains two nights ago, down to about 1,500 feet. So I went to the beach while everyone else was causing traffic jams trying to get out east to see the snow. I heard that travel time to go 60 miles was 3 hours. Travel time to the beach was 10 minutes.

Russel - San Diego is an interesting place - only spent a week or two there once. It would be interesting to be able to see climate change - when you wanted it. Thanks.
